Ben has over a decade of leadership experience in the outdoor industry and oversees CleverHiker’s content creation and operational systems. He brings a practical perspective combining qualitative field testing and rigorous quantitative analysis to his process.
Ben grew up in the outdoors, spending many summer nights under the stars in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. His passion quickly evolved into profession, becoming a guide for backpacking, cycling, and canoeing trips throughout northern New England and maritime Canada. From there, he went on to oversee the operation of dozens of outdoor adventures – training trip leaders, scouting itineraries, developing leader manuals, and managing emergency response.
He earned his MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and has thru-hiked some of America’s most iconic long trails including the Continental Divide Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, Oregon Coast Trail, Superior Hiking Trail, Pinhoti Trail, Long Trail, and Colorado Trail, as well as extensive sections of the Appalachian and North Country Trails, logging over 8,000 miles in the process.
