ENLIGHTENED EQUIPMENT REVELATION QUILT (19OZ)
The Revelation Quilt has quickly become one of my favorite items in my pack. I hate feeling constricted by tight fitting sleeping bags. The Revelation gives me the flexibility to spread out and sleep comfortably in the backcountry. It can be cinched up tight on chilly nights or used as a blanket in more temperate weather.
PENDLETON GLACIER NP BLANKET
Pendleton Blankets are beautiful, warm, comfortable, and they make fantastic gifts. I own two Pendleton blankets and I’ve given a few away to family and friends over the years. They’re my all-time favorite in-home blankets and they make excellent gifts as well.
GOSSAMER GEAR GORILLA 40 BACKPACK (1LB 10OZ)
The Gorilla 40 is one of my all-time favorite ultralight backpacks. It makes an excellent gift for thru-hikers and ultralighters. The Gorilla is light, comfortable, functional, and loaded with great features. The SitLite back panel is one of my favorite features; it’s a comfortable back pad that doubles as an easily accessible trail seat. The larger GG Mariposa 60 (29oz) is also a popular pack.
REI HALF DOME 2 PLUS TENT (5LB 1OZ)
The Half Dome 2 Plus is one of REI’s most popular tents, and for good reason. It is durable, roomy, affordable, and great in nasty weather. It’s not a top option for ultralight backpackers, but it’s a favorite among most outdoor enthusiasts. It’s great for backcountry trips and camping trips of all varieties. The REI Half Dome 2 (4lb 9oz) is slightly smaller/lighter and is another great option.
OSPREY EXOS 48 (2LB 8OZ)
The Exos 48 is an excellent backpack for those looking to hike light, but still wanting all the comforts of a traditional backpack. It’s loaded with great features like a breathable mesh back panel for airflow, shoulder strap pouches, and a removable top lid. The Exos 58 (2lb 10oz) is the same design pack with a larger carrying capacity, which is a popular option as well.
THERM-A-REST NEOAIR XLITE (12OZ)
The NeoAir sleeping pad is just about the perfect sleeping pad for any 3-season outdoor adventure. It’s incredibly light, comfortable, and compactable. It also has great insulation properties, so it keeps the cold ground at bay. You absolutely can’t miss with this pad. The NeoAir XTherm (15oz) makes a great gift for winter treks.
OUTDOOR RESEARCH HELIUM II JACKET (6.4OZ)
The Helium II (in men’s and women’s) is an extremely lightweight jacket that provides great rain protection on the trail. Outdoor Research cut out all the extras to keep weight down with this model, so it doesn’t have front pockets, adjustable wrist straps, or pit zips. That makes it’s an ideal lightweight jacket for the trail, but not as ideal around town.
CAMELBAK FOURTEENER 24 HYDRATION PACK (2LB 13OZ)
The Fourteener 24 is a daypack loaded with great features, including a sturdy harness that promotes back ventilation and a 100oz water reservoir. It’s got excellent storage capacity and is a great fit for active hikers and bikers.
The Poler Napsack makes a fun and functional gift for outdoor lovers. It’s a sleeping sack with openings for your arms and feet, so you never have to leave the warmth of your bag, even when walking around camp. It’s a fun option for summer camping trips and couch surfing.
GOAL ZERO GUIDE 10 PLUS SOLAR CHARGER (1LB 3OZ)
I’ve heard feedback from several friends that the Goal Zero 10 Plus Solar Charger is the best gadget they bought throughout the entire year. It’s a highly convenient, reliable, and packable solar charger to juice up your devices in the field.
KINDLE PAPERWHITE 6” (7.5OZ)
I absolutely love my Kindle Paperwhite. I’m reading a lot more because it makes reading easier. It’s gentle on the eyes, has a backlight for nighttime reading, and makes finding great books simple. I take mine with me on almost every trip I take, especially solo jaunts in the backcountry.
OSPREY STRATOS & SIRRUS 24 (2LB 4OZ)
The Osprey Stratos 24 for men and Sirrus 24 for women are excellent daypacks loaded with convenient features. The airflow back mesh panel, water bottle holsters, hip pouches, water reservoir pocket, trekking pole straps, and large pockets for cargo make this pack an ideal choice for epic day trips in the mountains.
