Yesterday was a huge day in the life of CleverHiker. I’d love to tell you a little bit about our progress and talk about some big things to come.

About six months ago I started an Indiegogo crowd funding campaign to raise support for a video series on ultralight backpacking (image above). The campaign was wildly successful due to the support of my friends, family, and the backpacking community. Yesterday I was able to send an individual email to each of my 166 backers to deliver on a promise I made half a year ago. It was an incredibly proud moment for me.

For the past six months I’ve been putting all of my energy into delivering the best product I possibly could for my backers and for anyone interested in learning to lightweight backpack. I created a video series and eBook that will help teach people how to lightweight/ultralight backpack in order to better enjoy their wilderness experiences.

This series will be an excellent resource for anyone interested in attempting a thru-hike someday. It will be a great tool for hikers wanting to learn about the most advanced ultralight equipment out there. But I believe that that it it will also be a great asset for any backpacker who simply want to enjoy hiking more.

If you’ve ever lugged a heavy pack over a hill then you already understand. Carrying a heavy backpack sucks. It’s the absolute pits. And it doesn’t matter if you’re hiking for three miles or thirty miles, it’s just not that much fun.

Learning how to lightweight or ultralight backpack will help any hiker enjoy their trips more. No more blisters. No more sore hips and shoulders. No more fear of putting your pack back on. Instead, you’ll be able to see so much more, hike so much farther, and still have energy to read a book when you get to camp.

Our big launch day for the series is June 3rd and we hope you’ll help us spread the word. Our website is live and we’re offering presale packages on our store at 10% off the normal price. All presale items will be delivered on the 3rd when we officially go live.

One of our biggest challenges is going to be getting the word out about CleverHiker to the backpacking community and we’d love your help. I’ll be posting pics, videos, and contests for free gear on our Facebook and Twitter pages over the next two weeks. So check us out and win some free merch.

I can’t tell you how proud I am of how far we’ve come and I know that this is just the start. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments.

Best regards,

Dave Collins
