Bottom Line

The REI Camp Prep Table is versatile beyond just prepping. Its large surface can hold everything needed to cook a meal, and the adjustable legs let you sit and eat at a comfortable height.

We use this table a lot and appreciate the simple two-step setup. We were initially worried about the durability of the plastic in the lever locks, but they held up well through multiple uses over the season.

It is slightly heavier than other tables on this list, but the convenient carry bag makes it portable.

How We Tested

We spent a winter season camping in the Rocky Mountains, facing wind, snow, and freezing temperatures. This tested the table in harsh weather conditions and on rocky, unstable terrain.

Stability & Durability

The REI Camp Prep Table has adjustable legs, which gave us options when setting up on unstable ground.

In the various terrains it endured, we were always able to adjust the legs to achieve stability.

The table does have many plastic components, which we questioned regarding durability, but we did not experience any pieces failing during the season we tested it.

Surface Area & Weight Capacity

As the name suggests, the REI Camp Prep Table has a large surface area suitable for all your prepping needs.

We did more than just prep on this table; we also used it to cook and stage our gear.

The 100-pound weight capacity held up well with our heavy climbing gear.

Portability

At almost 20 pounds, the REI Camp Prep Table is slightly heavier than other models on the market.

However, it comes with a convenient carry bag with a handle, and as long as we didn’t have to travel far, it was easy to carry and position.

Height

The REI Camp Prep Table features adjustable legs that offer ergonomic heights ranging from 22 to 31 inches.

We found it comfortable to stand over for extended periods while cooking, and we could sit and eat around it with various camp chairs.
