Bottom Line

The Bogs Amanda Chelsea II blend style, comfort, and practicality all into one boot. They’re the right option if you want a one-pair wonder boot for wet, cool weather.

Their sleek ankle-height design pairs well with casual and work outfits, while the durable rubber and neoprene construction ensures reliable waterproofing. A fleecy faux-fur lining adds warmth and moisture-wicking properties, keeping feet dry in temperatures as low as -4°F. The trade-off for warmth is that the insulation makes them less suitable for warmer weather.

A steel shank in the outsole enhances stability and support, while the slip-resistant tread performs well on wet pavement. They aren’t our favorite for getting into deep mud. The boots also are on the snug side and run small, so sizing up is recommended. A convenient heel kick makes removal effortless. Additionally, they’re recyclable through Bogs’ sustainability program.

Overall, the Amanda Chelsea II boots earned a spot on our guide to the best rain boots for being a stylish, functional everday option for cool, wet climates.

Water Resistance

The Amanda Chelsea II is a fully waterproof ankle-height rain boot designed for urban and suburban wear. Made from durable rubber with a faux fur lining, it effectively keeps feet dry by eliminating weak seams where water could seep in. The snug ankle fit helps prevent splashes from entering, especially when paired with a mid-weight sock. The combination of rubber and faux fur lining brings the temperature rating for these boots down to an impressive -4 F.

While these boots perform well in light rain, snow, and shallow puddles, their 6.4-inch height limits where and when we wear these, and it’s always a bummer when the accidental pour over happens. Stretch gussets provide flexibility, but stepping in puddles above the cutouts isn’t recommended.

We scored the Amanda’s lower than taller boots because they provide less coverage at 6 inches tall. But they still offer excellent waterproof protection for commuters and those seeking a stylish, functional option. We like them for dates, errands, and city strolls, and just don’t expect them to handle deep mud, streams, or extreme winter conditions.

Comfort

With a fit similar to a hiking boot, we can comfortably wear Amanda’s all day and across various surfaces, from city sidewalks to gravel paths.

The bio-based BLOOM footbeds reduce petroleum use while providing cushioning, and the flexible rubber soles require little break-in time. However, the slightly taller ankle shaft (5.5 inches from the heel) may cause chafing, especially without tall socks or tucked-in pants.

Unlike many rain boots, these aren’t clunky or hard to walk in and have a good amount of traction. It’s the only rain boot on our guide with a steel shank in the outsole to enhance support.

They also have their proprietary BOGS Max-Wick, which helps manage sweat, although the faux fur lining can make feet warm in hotter weather. The narrower fit may feel snug, particularly with thick socks or those with a wide toe box. Aside from that, they deliver excellent comfort for commuting, running errands, and light outdoor activities once they are broken in.

Durability

We’ve had no durability issues with the Amanda Chelsea II. This is likely thanks to its seamless construction and single-layer recycled rubber design, which enhances both strength and lightweight performance.

The soft rubber resists scuffing and is easy to clean, although it may crease slightly with extended use. A steel shank in the sole provides support and stability, making the footbed both stiff and comfortable.

We read reviews of some gals finding the lining detaching over time. However, this hasn’t been observed in our testing, though it’s something Bogs may address in future models.

Overall, the boot is designed to withstand daily wear in mild conditions, and Bogs backs it with a one-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Traction

Designed with urban environments in mind, these boots provide reliable traction on flat surfaces like linoleum tile and snowy sidewalks. The shallow tread, about 1-2 mm deep, and slip-resistant outsole perform well for casual outings and running errands. A slight 1 cm heel adds a bit of grip, making them dependable on smooth surfaces, even in light snow.

Should you step out to rougher ground, the traction isn’t as strong on more rugged or slippery terrain, such as muddy paths or icy roads. The tread resembles that of a casual sneaker rather than a rugged boot.

If you’re looking for a stylish, functional boot for daily use in the city or mild weather, these boots offer solid performance. But if you plan to venture into more challenging environments, consider a boot with a deeper, more aggressive tread.

Features

The standout features of the Bogs Amanda Chelsea are their low-profile function wrapped in a sleek, fashionable design. We wear them when it is dry outside just as much as when it’s raining.

Unlike other boots that rely on varying rubber thicknesses for support, these boots feature a steel shank in the sole, providing enhanced support and stability. The rubberized pull loops make them easy to slip on, while the bumpers on the back of the heels allow for hands-free removal.

Additionally, Bogs offers a unique ReUse a Boot Program | BOGS, where you can send back worn-out boots for free repurposing or recycling. With seasonal color options and a variety of ankle-height designs, these boots combine fashion, function, and sustainability.

Should You Buy the Bogs Amanda Chelsea II Rain Boot?

The Amanda Chelsea boot is perfect for those who want more than just a basic rain boot. With a stylish design, excellent walkability, and a fleece-lined inner, it functions as a versatile three-season shoe that keeps feet dry while offering comfort and flexibility.

Whether paired with jeans or a dress, these boots blend fashion with performance, making them a great choice for urban commuters, casual outings, and light outdoor activities.

Our only reservations on recommending this pair are that their ankle height limits them in deep water or heavy rain, and they aren’t cheap. Otherwise, the Amanda Chelsea is ideal for anyone seeking a durable, fashionable, waterproof option for everyday wear.
